Hello, this is the about me section. Well, I primarily paint and exhibit oil paintings. I call my work Nursery Noire.
A fascination with toys old and new, theatrically lit and dramatically set, with long characterful shadows forcefully reasserts itself again and again in my work. It’s a framework which affords me very broad creative freedom while retaining a recognisable language throughout my pieces I think.
I’m a painter at heart, but a multimedia artist in practise, there is much model making and set building in preparation for my painted work, but I also like work with textile and ceramics, with print in particular, and more recently, paper design and animation projects in collaboration with Clive @hicksjenkins at @davidwslack
